The Witcher Gets Clips, Spin-Off’s, Release Date And An Early Season 3 Renewal

This weekend saw a Witcher themed event on Tudum. Most importantly The Witcher Season 3 has been announced along with The Witcher Season 2 release date.  Several clips were released, all included below along with a special report on prequel show The Witcher: Blood Origin. In addition, there were new projects announced as Netflix doubles down on the Witcher Universe.

First up, Season 2. There are two Season 2 clips below and the release date has been revealed as December 17th. The first clip amazingly shows Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju as a monstrous looking character called Nivellin. I must say the prosthetic work so far on The Witcher has been amazing.

Next up a small scene showing Geralt warning Ciri about an impending danger, it’s only a small clip, and definitely intended as a tease.

There is also the official trailer showing the road to Season 2. However there is also some new Season 2 footage at the end. Specifically we see a bit of what is happening with Yennefer, who is now a prisoner.

As said up top, Netflix has also revealed that The Witcher has been renewed for Season 3 early. Normally Netflix would wait to see how Season 2 has gone. However not only is Season 3 greenlit, there are more spin-off’s on the way.

First up we have a video teasing the production on The Witcher: Blood Origin, the prequel show.

Plus, following the anime The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Netflix has announced another anime project in the works. The most surprising announcement was that of a project intended for families with children. The Witcher Universe is not one for kids, it’s simply too adult. This is like announcing Game of Thrones the Saturday morning cartoon, or a Friday the 13th Christmas Special. It’s frankly bizarre and despite me being pleased at everything else we have seen this weekend, it’s this families project which has me worried.

Are you getting excited for The Witcher Season 2, and will you be binging it on the release date? Are you glad it has been renewed for a Season 3 already? Any other Witcher thoughts, leave them below as always.
