SUV, ambulance collide; Missouri woman dies from injuries

MARION COUNTY, Missouri —
A Missouri woman was killed in a crash involving an ambulance in Marion County over the weekend.

The crash happened Sunday around 12:20 p.m., on U.S. 61 in Palmyra, north of West Main Cross Street.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an ambulance and small SUV were both travelling south, when the driver of the SUV, Willard Leverett, 93, of Middletown, Missouri, attempted to make a left turn in front of the ambulance.
The two vehicles collided.
Leverett and a passenger in the SUV, Gloria Leverett, 87, also of Middletown, were both taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., with serious injuries.
Gloria Leverett was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the ambulance was not injured.
