The Toyota Tundra has just been unveiled with a choice of two twin-turbo V6 engine options as it prepares to take on Detroit's finest. With a coil spring rear suspension, the Tundra is more like a regular car than ever before, and that's no bad thing. We really like the truck and look forward to trying it out for ourselves, but even before we get a chance to put the new Toyota Tundra through its paces, there's already an even cooler version that we'll never get to drive. For the first time, Toyota will be campaigning the Tundra TRD Pro in the 2022 Nascar Camping World Truck Series.

The truck continues Toyota's tradition of being the "only OEM that campaigns three different body styles across Nascar's top three series." It joins the Toyota Camry TRD Next Gen Cup Series car and the Toyota Supra that is currently competing in the Xfinity Series.

"The launch of the new Tundra is a really exciting time for our entire organization, so to be able to reflect that new styling in our Nascar Tundra with the TRD Pro design is a reflection of the importance of the series to all of us and allows us to continue ensuring our on-track production resembles its production counterparts that can be found in our Toyota showrooms," says Toyota's motorsports group manager Paul Doleshal.

Toyota will be looking to cement its legacy in the Camping World Truck Series in 2022, as the automaker approaches two decades of commitment to racing in the series. In the time since its debut in 2004, Toyota has won eight drivers' championships and 11 manufacturer titles. Earlier this season, Ben Rhodes piloted the preceding Tundra to victory for the 200th time, bringing Toyota closer to a 12th manufacturers' title - something that seems inevitable considering that 60% of the ten drivers to qualify for this season's Truck Series Playoffs compete full-time in Tundras.

The all-new Tundra Nascar truck will make its public debut at the Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 18, 2022.
