LANSING, Ill. (September 26, 2021) – For those that haven’t gotten their COVID-19 vaccinations yet, Lansing School District 158 has a remedy.
District 158 will be hosting vaccinations clinics at Coolidge Elementary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 and Saturday, October 23.
The school is located at 17845 Henry Street in Lansing. Visitors are asked to enter the building through door No. 3 and proceed to the Coolidge Multi-Purpose Room.
Dr. Nathan Schilling, Superintendent of Schools, said both the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson (single shot) vaccines will be offered to anyone 12 and older free of charge.
“A total of 33 people were vaccinated during our first clinic in August and another 50 were vaccinated on September 11,” he said. “Since these events have been quite successful, we are planning to continue offering them for the area.”
Schilling praised Coolidge Elementary Principal Pamela Hodgson for enthusiastically offering the school as the vaccination site yet again.
“She has really stepped up and took the initiative,” he said. “If there are ways that we, as a school district, can help our community and region, we’re going to do that. We have the capacity to offer a vaccination clinic, and I feel that we have a responsibility to help out wherever we can.”
Schilling added that he is encouraged by the number of high school students in the community receiving vaccinations, as well as the vaccination rate and drop in the COVID-19 infection rate across the entire Lansing community. He hopes the District 158 will can host more vaccinations clinics as needed.
The vaccinations will be administered by the Illinois Department of Public Health. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact District 158 at (708) 474-6700 or Illinois’ coronavirus hotline at 1-833-621-1284, or visit coronavirus.illinois.gov. Walk-ins are also welcome at the clinics.
