AFL Grand Final Streaker

The male streaker who had to be contained by security guards during the AFL Grand Final in Perth has been revealed as the cousin of Olympic long-distance runner Peter Bol.

Abra Bol invaded the pitch at three-quarter time of the Melbourne Demons' grand final win over the Western Bulldogs wearing nothing but underwear and running shoes, much to the excitement of the Optus Stadium crowd.

He ran straight through the middle of the ground from the city end of the stadium, making it as far as just past the centre square before being charged down in a tackle from a security guard.

Bol was charged with trespassing by West Australian police and faces up to $12,000 in fines. While he could also face a ban from attending any matches at Optus Stadium in the future.

And it's since been revealed Peter Bol, who represented Australia in the recent Tokyo Games, is the cousin of Abra Bol, who posted footage of the stunt on social media on Sunday.

“Crowd with 100k people, million-plus people watching,” Bol wrote.

“First ever to do a streak in a AFL Grand Final in Perth, You Only Live Once Fu** It.

“You can’t ban me if I’m sneaking in."

Peter Bol commented on his cousin's post, saying: “Mate I was not training you for this."

Peter Bol quickly became a household name in Australia during the Tokyo Games with the way he advanced through to the 800m men's final as the second-fastest qualifier.

The Sudanese-born 27-year-old led for large parts of that race, but ultimately finished fourth with Kenya's Emmanuel Korir and Ferguson Rotich taking gold and silver respectively, and Poland's Patryk Dobek collecting bronze.

“I didn’t know if I was going to win,” Bol said after the final. “But I knew one thing for certain, that the whole of Australia was watching – and that carried me on.”

After growing up in the Sudanese capital city of Khartoum, Bol arrived in Australia as a 10-year-old and currently resides in Perth.
