RIVERSIDE — Riverside firefighters Sunday contained a brush fire after it charred an estimated five acres of grass.

The brush fire, which ignited near the intersection of Washington Street and Victoria Avenue, was reported at 3:46 p.m., according to the Riverside Fire Department.

The department sent 27 firefighters and seven engine companies to battle the flames.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, the department reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
