Ouachita Christian takes top spot, Teurlings moving up in CCS rankings for Louisiana high school football

CCS High School Football

Ouachita Christian is accustomed to being on top, playing for state championships.

The Eagles have won seven state titles, most recently in 2019, and played in the Division IV championship game last season.

After staging a fourth quarter rally to defeat Cedar Creek 33-22, OCS remained unbeaten and moves on top in the latest CrescentCitySports.com Class 1A Top 10 rankings.

The Eagles supplant Calvary Baptist, who lost on the road to 5A Archbishop Rummel (23-14). Calvary is now second.

Southern Lab is third with unbeaten Grand Lake fourth and St. Frederick is fifth. Oak Grove is sixth with Homer seventh and Haynesville now eighth. Unbeatens LaSalle and Westminster Christian move in at the ninth and tenth positions, respectively.

In Class 5A, Catholic of Baton Rouge remains firmly on top after a very impressive 39-14 win over Warren Easton. Unbeatens Zachary, Alexandria, Ponchatoula and Brother Martin round out the top five. John Curtis Christian was very impressive in a 42-16 win over St. Augustine and is now sixth with unbeaten Captain Shreve seventh and West Monroe eighth. Defending state champ Acadiana is ninth with unbeaten Byrd at No. 10.

Karr backed up its big win over John Curtis with a solid win over Scotlandville to remain on top in Class 4A. Teurlings Catholic moves up to second after a huge win over powerhouse Notre Dame. St. Thomas More is third after a big win over Neville, with the Tigers falling to fourth. Impressive Carver is fifth with Warren Easton sixth. Carencro falls to seventh with Westgate, Cecilia and Huntington rounding out the 4A top 10.

University High (4-0) rolls on as the top team in 3A with Madison Prep second. St. James is third with Sterlington fourth and De La Salle now fifth. E.D. White Catholic is sixth with unbeaten Church Point seventh. Lake Charles College Prep falls to eighth with Union Parish down to ninth and Donaldsonville moving in at No. 10.

Four-time defending state champion Lafayette Christian remains on top in Class 2A ahead of a huge game with Catholic of Baton Rouge with St. Charles Catholic second. The Comets have not given up a point in two victories. Newman is now third with Many fourth and Amite fifth. Unbeaten Loreauville is sixth with Notre Dame falling to seventh. General Trass, Mangham and Avoyelles round out the 2A top 10.
