Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse police are investigating a shooting Sunday evening after a man was shot in the foot on the city’s West Side, officials said.
Officers initially responded to 544 Gifford St. at 5:32 p.m. for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found a casing and evidence someone had fired a gun, Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said.
Around the same time, police learned a 32-year-old man arrived at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with a gunshot wound to the foot, Malinowski said.
The shooting victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle after he was shot on Gifford Street, Malinowski said. The man’s injury is not considered life threatening, he said.
