Tony Awards 2021: Fashion—Live From the Red Carpet
Tonight, the 74th annual Tony Awards kick off in New York City, celebrating the best in Broadway showmanship. This year’s awards hold more importance than ever: After more than a year of Broadway being shut down due to Covid, it’s high time to celebrate both the cast and crews who make going to the theatre so special—especially as productions are now ramping up and re-opening to the public. (Shows from both 2019 and 2020 will be acknowledged this evening.)
Held at the Winter Garden Theatre, this year’s ceremony is being hosted by Leslie Odom Jr. and Audra McDonald. Nominated productions include the plays Slave Play and The Inheritance, while acknowledged musicals include Moulin Rouge!, Tina, and Jagged Little Pill. Before all of the accolades are handed out, however, Broadway stars will also hit the red carpet in their glitziest fashions. After all, the Tonys always deliver an abundance of sequins, feathers, and more.
Here, see what all of your favorite actors, singers, playwrights, and more wore on the Tonys step and repeat in real time—and be sure to check back throughout the night for live updates.
