NEW ORLEANS, La (BRPROUD) – The Coast Guard rescued two people Saturday, Sept. 25 after watercraft began to take on water near Gulfport, Mi.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile Watchstanders were sent a report from the Gulfport Coast Guard Station Saturday night that a 17 ft vessel with two people aboard north of Cat Island was taking in water. Gulfport Coast Guard responded and launched a 45-ft Response Boat-Medium crew.
The brew arrived and towed the vessel, along with the two people on board, back to Long Beach Harbor. The two people are in stable condition.
The Coast Guard suggests that people have all the required safety equipment before going on the water.
Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Moore, Sector Mobile Command Duty Officer said not having the required safety equipment can be detrimental to a successful response effort.
