Man returns home after breaking his neck while boogie boarding in Narragansett

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WJAR) —
A 69-year-old man who broke his neck while boogie boarding at Narragansett Town Beach earlier this month returned to his rental home by the beach.

Tim Huffman was sent home from Newport Hospital Saturday morning.

His wife, Vicki, said they were able to take a short walk along the beach Sunday morning to celebrate their 41st anniversary. It was Huffman's first walk since the accident.

"It was great to be outside, and to actually be walking and close to the beach and see everything but it was also kind of sad because I knew I couldn't go in the water," said Huffman.

Vicki told NBC 10 her husband is still in a lot of pain and gets tired easily but is determined to get stronger each day.
