Awful Wrong Way Driver Freeway Collision | San Diego

09.25.2021 | 11:59 AM | SAN DIEGO – The CHP started to received calls of a wrong-way driver heading north in the southbound I-5 #1 lane at high speed. At 2:02 pm, the male driver of the car went head-on into a truck being driven by a father with two of his family members inside with him. The driver of the car was extricated with major injuries and transported to a local hospital. The driver of the truck had complaints of pain but was not transported. The one male that was in the front passenger seat has major injuries and had to be cut out of the truck. The third person in the truck was in the back seat and had moderate injuries. These last two were transported to local hospitals. The southbound I-5 traffic was diverted onto the I-905. DUI is suspected in this crash for the wrong-way driver.
