Portage Road reopens after shutdown due to house fire

PORTAGE, Mich. — Update: Portage Rd. reopened to traffic in both directions after structure fire closed part of the road, according to the Kalamazoo County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.

Portage Road from Osterhout to Mandigo was closed down due to a structure fire Saturday evening, according to dispatch.

Officials said both northbound and southbound lanes were closed. As of 6:36 p.m., traffic reopened.

Drivers had been asked to seek alternate routes during the shutdown.
