Investigators say cause of Susan B. Anthony House fire is 'suspicious'

Rochester, N.Y. —
Officers received multiple calls around 1:10 a.m. that the historic Susan B. Anthony house was on fire. When they arrived they saw the back porch of the house in flames.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire and save artifacts from potential damage.
“The Rochester Fire Department has long understood the significance that this property holds both to our local community as well as the nation. A great job was done by the firefighters’ tonight in limiting the effects of the fire on both the museum and its displays,” said Battalion Chief Joseph Luna.
The Rochester Fire Investigation Unit report the cause of the fire as suspicious but still under investigation.

There were no reported injuries.
