Man slain Saturday night in Laurel area, Prince George’s police say

A man was fatally shot Saturday night in the Laurel area, Prince George’s County police said.

The victim was found about 9:50 p.m. in a car that police said had crashed near Baltimore Avenue and Mulberry Street in the unincorporated part of Laurel, the police said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Police later identified the victim as Ismael Westry, 27, of Hyattsville.

No information was available about a suspect or motive.

The site appeared to be a commercial area just outside the Laurel city limits.

The homicide was apparently the third in little more than 24 hours in Prince George’s. They occurred at widely spaced locations, and no connection seemed to exist among them.
