Men's Soccer Defeated By Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. - The Southern Connecticut State University fell to Stonehill, 4-1, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 at Skyhawk Field. The Owls fall to 1-5-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the NE10, while the Skyhawks improve to 4-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the NE10. 

Leroy Best (Bielefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany) scored the Owls' lone goal during the 32nd minute of action. Juan Alava (Guayaquil, Ecuador) assisted on the play set the goal up by splitting two defenders and made a beautiful pass to Best, who knocked it past the Skyhawk goalkeeper for the goal. 

Stonehill scored during the 16th, 17th, and 35th minute of the play, then capped their afternoon with a goal in the 75th minute.

Notes
  • Best's goal was the second of his career, with the other coming on Sept. 18, 2021 against Saint Michael's. 
  • Best currently leads the Owls with two goals scored this season.
  • Alava's assist was the first he has recorded in a Southern uniform. He previously recorded nine assists in two seasons at Nassau Community College. 
  • Southern has assisted on four of their five goals this year.
