Big Lots will soon occupy the building once occupied by Orchard Supply Hardware located near Stater Bros. in the Midtown Square shopping center on Main Street in Hesperia.

Big Lots and Ace Hardware will likely soon occupy two vacant buildings on Main Street on the east side of Hesperia.

Hesperia Deputy City Manager Rachel Molina told the Daily Press that Big Lots is moving into the old Orchard Supply Hardware building in the Midtown Square shopping center.

“Big Lots tenant improvements were approved early this month, but they still haven’t pulled permits,” said Molina, about the store, which will be located near the Stater Bros. supermarket.

Big Lots was once located near the corner of Main Street and Ninth Avenue in Hesperia, but Molina said the store closed some years ago.

Ace Hardware is moving into the building formerly occupied by Dollar General on Main Street in Hesperia.

Ace Hardware, meanwhile, is preparing for its final inspection to obtain its certificate of occupancy as the company prepares to move into the former Dollar General building, Molina said.

In 2018, Dollar General officials closed the Hesperia store on the corner of G Avenue and Main Street as part of the company’s “continual review” on how to meet customer’s needs, Dollar General spokeswoman Crystal Ghassemi told the Daily Press at the time.

The company also shuttered its store near the corner of Lorene Drive and Seventh Street in Victorville as part of the company’s review, Ghassemi said.

In 2013, Dollar General added 2,963 square feet to the existing 6,286-square-foot building in Hesperia that once house a Hollywood Video.

Hollywood Video filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors in 2010 after companies like Netflix and Redbox increased competition.
