Nick Castellanos blasts walk-off dinger as Reds beat Nats 7-6

The Reds can’t lose this series!

Nick Castellanos has been an absolute blast to watch for the last two seasons. Signed before 2020 to bolster the Reds’ offense, he has done his damn best to keep the offense afloat while this team has fought for a playoff spot for the last two years. As we enter what is most likely his last week as a Cincinnati Red, he came through again, smoking a ball over the wall in center field in the bottom of the 9th to give the Reds a 7-6 victory.

It capped off a game that was back and forth all night. Reds’ starter Vladimir Guitierrez was not sharp, and didn’t make it out of the third inning, allowing 4 runs in 2.2 innings of work. The bullpen was able to hold steady enough for the remaining 6-plus innings and the offense found a way in a month where they have decidedly not found a way multiple times. Anyway, this was a fun win to have in the middle of a disappointing end to the season. Go Reds.
