A Penn Yan man has been charged with falsely reporting an incident after he allegedly called 9-1-1 and requested an ambulance for a medical emergency. Police say after the ambulance responded to his Main Street residence, John Mattero admitted to not having a medical issue and called for the ambulance for attention-seeking purposes.
The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff reports the arrest of a Town of Martville woman for Assault in the Third degree. Deputies arrested Brandy Jo Disbennett, age 44, of 13647 Queens Farms Road, following an investigation into a domestic incident that took place at Sodus Central School, 54 Mill Street in the Town of Sodus on October 15, 2021. Ms. Disbennett was issued an appearance ticket to appear at a later date and time before the Sodus Town Court and released.

Canandaigua Police believe they have located the 1956 Ford pickup truck that was involved in Saturday night’s fatal hit-and-run accident on South Main Street. Officers found the truck after they executed a search warrant at a storage facility in the town of Canandaigua Tuesday. No charges have been filed yet but the investigation is ongoing. A 30-year old Canandaigua man has been charged with burglary. David Fivie is accused of unlawfully entering the home of a city of Canandaigua resident and getting into a physical altercation with him. On Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, at 3:25 pm, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Brandy K. Elliot, age 29, of Seneca Falls, NY following a larceny investigation at the Seneca Falls Tops. Elliot was observed to have exited the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise after having failed to render payment. Elliot was charged with one count of Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor. Elliot was processed and released on an appearance ticket scheduling. She is to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date to answer the charge.
Canandaigua Police have identified the victim in Saturday night’s fatal hit-and-run accident. 62-year-old Edwin Wesley was crossing Main Street near Niagara Street in the crosswalk on his motorized scooter when he was struck by a mid-1950’s green Ford pickup truck, which continued on. Wesley was airlifted to Rochester’s Strong Memorial and later died from his injuries.
Two related inmate attacks at the Elmira Correctional Facility Monday resulted in one officer being stabbed and another suffering a broken elbow. NYSCOPBA reports on Monday morning an inmate approached an officer and punched him several times in the face in the mess hall. A Seneca Falls man was arrested Sunday morning following a traffic stop in Seneca Falls. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Lyman Karalunas was allegedly driving the car unlicensed and without a court-ordered ignition interlock device. Karalunas was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and the use of a motor vehicle without an interlock device.
On Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 8:41 pm, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Thomas R. McNeill, age 30, of Seneca Falls, New York, following a domestic dispute that occurred on October 20th, 2021. During the dispute, McNeill subjected the female victim to unwanted physical contact by pushing and striking her resulting in injury. McNeill had also taken the victim’s cellphone during the incident. The actions of McNeill caused the female victim to fear for her life. It was also determined McNeill’s actions were in violation of an order of protection. McNeill was placed into custody for one count of criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony, one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony, one count of aggravated family offense, a class E felony, and one count of harassment in the second degree, a violation. McNeill was processed and transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. McNeill will be due back in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date to answer the charges.

A Lyons man was arrested on a Wayne County Superior Court bench warrant Saturday night but not before he took off on arresting officers. 34-year old Richard Taft was the passenger in a car stopped by State Police. Taft is accused of jumping out of the car and running into a friend’s apartment. The Sheriff’s Department located Taft a short time later inside the apartment and took him into custody.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports a drunk driver caused a car crash in the town of Manchester Saturday night. Saxon Gavitt was arrested by Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies after he crashed into another vehicle, causing that vehicle to go off the road, striking a utility pole. There was a fatal hit and run incident in the city of Canandaigua Saturday night. At 6:09pm, Canandaigua Police responded to the report of a hit and run on South Main Street near Niagara Street. Officers found that an elderly disabled man on a motorized scooter was struck while in a crosswalk by a mid 1950s green Ford pickup truck. The truck then fled the scene.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office reports a head on collision occurred Friday night on County Road 4 in the town of Hector. Just before 6:00pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the motor vehicle accident where they found a Ford SUV rolled over onto its roof with heavy damage to the front driver’s side.
