POCATELLO, Idaho – Habtamu Cheney posted a second-place individual finish en route to leading the Utah Valley University men's cross country team to a second-place team finish, while
Zoe Hales placed third individually to help the Wolverine women finish third as a team on Saturday morning at the Idaho State Open at ISU Centennial Cross Country Course.

With a number of Wolverines sitting out Saturday's meet, Cheney led the UVU men by placing second overall in the 5.6K men's race with a time of 18:31.6.
Hawk Call was next for the Wolverine men by placing sixth with a time of 18:43.0, while
Cameron Jacobs followed in 11th (18:58.3),
Max Burton 16th (19:15.4),
Thomas Pickford 26th (19:46.3) and
Logan Anderson 28th (19:49.6).Â

With the meet only scoring the top-two finishers for each team, the UVU men finished second in a three-team meet with seven points. Utah State won the men's race with five points, followed by the host ISU Bengals in third with nine. On the women's side, the Wolverines placed third with nine team points. ISU won the women's 5.6K race with five points, while USU took second with seven points.Â

The second-year freshman Hales led the Wolverine women on the day by taking third with a time of 22:34.0.
Madison White was next for UVU by placing 10th with a time of 23:10.9, while
Agnieszka Lubowska placed 15th (23:35.4),
Miah Weaver Chambers 21st (23:54.3),
Abby Barrus 28th (24:32.9) and
Annicka Perry 30th (23:43.1).Â

Both the UVU men and women will continue the season on Friday, Oct. 1 by heading to South Bend, Indiana, to take part at the renowned Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. In 2019, the UVU men won the Gold Division at the Joe Piane Invite, while the women's team finished 23rd in the Blue Division.
