Kansas State football vs. Oklahoma State live updates: K-State falls to Cowboys, 31-20

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State built a 31-13 halftime lead and that was enough to finish with a 31-20 victory over Kansas State on Saturday night at Boone Pickens Stadium.

There was no scoring in the four

Kansas State claws back, trails 31-20 after three

Oklahoma State's offense sputtered in the third quarter and K-State got back in the game. After a missed field goal, the Cowboys punted three straight times and the Wildcats finally cashed in.

On what appeared to be a busted play, Jaren Lewis found Deuce Vaughn up the middle at the line of scrimmage and Vaughn raced 55 yards for a touchdown at the 1:08 mark.

K-State down at halftime, 31-13

Taiten Winkel kicked a 45-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, but not before Oklahoma State had racked up 295 yards total offense and scored on its first five possessions of the game.

Spencer Sanders was 11 of 15 passing for 194 yards and two touchdowns and Jaylen Warren had 79 yards rushing. K-State managed 176 yards total offense in the half.

Oklahoma State's 31 points in the half were the most they have scored in an entire game this year.

Cowboys turning it on

Oklahoma State with a 90-yard drive and 7-yard TD pass from Spencer Sanders to Tay Martin and the Cowboys are running away with this one, 28-10, 10:51 left in the half.

Oklahoma State takes control, 21-10, after one

Oklahoma scored two touchdowns in the span of 11 seconds to open a double-digit lead, 21-10, after one quarter. First Spencer Sanders hit Brennan Presley with a 20-yard scoring strike at the 3:26 mark, and on the K-State's next play from its 7-yard line, Will Howard could not handle the snap and Malcolm Rodriguez recovered in the end zone.

Malik Knowles to the house

Kansas State needs just 14 seconds to regain the lead on a 99-yard Malik Knowles kickoff return. The first special teams score of the season for the Wildcats, who now lead 10-7 with 6:18 left in the first quarter.

Cowboys answer with seven

Oklahoma State answered K-State's field goal with a 75-yard drive on its first possession, as quarterback Spencer Sanders scored on a 2-yard run with 6:32 left in the first quarter. Big play on the drive was a 52-yard gain on a screen pass from Sanders to Jaylen Warren.

Wildcats draw first blood

Kansas State takes the opening kickoff and drives 68 yards in 13 plays, but settles for a 32-yard Taiten Winkel field goal. The big play was a 37-yard run by quarterback Will Howard.

K-State gets the ball

Oklahoma State won the coin toss and deferred. K-State gets the ball first.

Missing in action

It appears safety Reggie Stubblefield and tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe are not on hand for tonight's game. Quarterback Skylar Thompson is not suited up either, though he was on the field earlier for some warmup tosses.
