COLUMBUS, Ohio — Akron comes to Ohio State hoping to end a 127 year and 20 day losing streak against the Buckeyes.
Ohio State is 7-1 all-time against its in-state foe from the Mid-American Conference. The Zips’ only victory came in 1894, in Columbus, 12-6.
The teams played every year from 1891-95, then not again until 2001. The Buckeyes have won the last three meetings by a combined score of 90-16.
Ohio State resumes Big Ten Conference next week at Rutgers. Favored by nearly 50 points at kickoff, the Buckeyes should have the opportunity to give some younger players their first extended playing time.
