Nate Karpay-Brody ran for two long touchdowns as Archie Williams remained unbeaten this season following a 41-0 road win against Richmond on Friday night.

Zach Atkinson threw three touchdowns and the Peregrine Falcons’ defense continued its season-long shutout. Archie Williams (4-0) has outscored opponents 144-2 this season with the two points coming on a safety given up by the offense.

Finn Hummel caught two of Atkinson’s touchdown passes and Zach Catrejon caught the other. Albert Stein also ran for a score.

Archie Williams opens up MCAL play on Friday night with a tough road test against San Marin (4-0, 1-0 MCAL).

Branson rolls

Branson’s defense overcame some early issues as the Bulls rolled to a 70-14 road win against Tomales on Friday night.

Tomales (1-2) had early leads of 8-0 and 14-6 before the Bulls were able to put the clamps on the Braves’ rushing game.

“The score does not reflect what the game was,” Branson coach Max Pond said. “It was a tough game early. It was the first time our guys got punched in the mouth a little bit but they responded well.”

Tomales had some success with some quarterback runs up the middle en route to building the 14-6 lead. The Braves lost their top lineman in the second quarter and their quarterback early in the third quarter.

Alexander Getty and Lucas Segal both had a pair of touchdowns as the Bulls (4-0) took control of the game. Pond identified Will Schuler as the defensive MVP of the game.

“That was definitely our best opponent we’ve played yet — a team that’s familiar with us being in our league,” Pond said,

The Bulls have two full weeks off before resuming play against John Swett. Tomales faces Anderson Valley next week.

“Branson is an excellent football team,” Tomales coach Dominic Sacheli said via email. “Max has done a very good job with them and they have some serious athletes (could probably compete in the MCAL). I was proud of the way we competed early but we need to be better conditioned and our young guys need to get ready to see the field.”
