GREENVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) - The Greenville Fire Department shut down KY-176 near the old Muhlenberg County High School East Campus to all traffic due to a two-vehicle car crash Saturday.

According to Kentucky State Police, Mark Revlett of Drakesboro was driving eastbound on KY-176 when his vehicle suddenly exited the left shoulder of the roadway. State troopers say Revlett’s car then drove back onto the roadway and collided head-on with another car.

Both drivers were transported to Muhlenberg Hospital, but the driver of the second vehicle, Thomas Morrison of Madisonville, died as a result of his injuries sustained during the crash.

GFD was called to the car crash around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Officials say when fire crews arrived, both cars involved were off-road with heavy front-end damage.

Fire officials say the accident required heavy extrication.

We are told the roadway is now back open in both directions and all agencies are cleared.

GFD is still on scene with Drakesboro and Beechmont.
