ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League club has named defenseman Matt Dumba and forward Marcus Foligno alternate captains.

Dumba is in his ninth NHL season, all with the Wild, after being selected by Minnesota in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. The 6-foot, 181-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan, owns 195 career points (68-127=195), a plus-28 rating, 271 penalty minutes (PIM), 25 power-play goals (PPG), 13 game-winning goals (13), 499 blocked shots and 598 hits in 462 contests. The 27-year-old is the franchise leader in overtime goals (6), ranks second amongst team defensemen in goals, T-2nd in GWG, third in points, PPG and shots (906), fifth in games played and assists and T-5th in PIM. He was the recipient of the 2020 King Clancy Memorial Trophy and a finalist for 2021 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The blueliner made his NHL debut on Oct. 5, 2013 to become the second-youngest defenseman to make debut with the Wild (19 years, 72 days).
Foligno is in his 11th NHL season, fifth with Minnesota. The 6-foot-3, 226-pound native of Buffalo, New York, has 93 points (37-56=93), a plus-28 rating, 206 PIM, four GWG, 684 hits and 140 blocked shots in 257 career games with the Wild. The winger ranks second in franchise history in hits and since joining the Wild in 2017, leads the team in PIM, ranks second in plus/minus rating, fourth in games played, eighth in goals and 10th in scoring. He was originally selected by Buffalo in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft and acquired by Minnesota along with Tyler Ennis and a third-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft in exchange for Jason Pominville, Marco Scandella and a fourth-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft on June 30, 2017. The 30-year-old made his NHL debut on Dec. 20, 2011, and owns 209 points (86-123=209), 540 PIM, 1,707 hits and 359 blocked shots in 604 career NHL games with the Sabres and the Wild.
