SALT LAKE CITY — Chick-fil-A is getting into the fall spirit and Utah's capital city will get a sneak peek of its latest creation.
The fast-food chain announced Thursday it will test a new "autumn spice" milkshake and Salt Lake City has been selected as a test location before the company decides if the milkshake will become a part of its seasonal menu nationwide.
No, this milkshake isn't pumpkin; rather, it is vanilla ice cream with a mixture of "cinnamon, cardamom and orange, as well as crunchy bits of speculoos cookies" blended in. It'll be available for customers at participating Salt Lake Chick-fil-A locations beginning Monday and continue through Oct. 30 or until supplies last.
This isn't the first time this year that Salt Lake City customers will decide on a product for the chain. Chick-fil-A also tested out a butterscotch crumble milkshake in the Salt Lake market.
Company officials say they selected Salt Lake City to test both milkshakes because it's the largest consumer of Chick-fil-A milkshakes of any city nationwide, which makes it the ideal test market. The fast food restaurant chain said it sold over 1.5 million milkshakes in the Salt Lake City area last year alone.
"Since locals in Utah's capital seem to love both signature and seasonal milkshake flavors," the company wrote in a news release, "we know they will take their taste-testing role very seriously."
