Vols' game day: Tennessee's all-time results on Sept. 25

When Tennessee travels to Gainesville, Florida Saturday against the Gators, it will mark the 15th time the Volunteers will play on Sept. 25.

In its previous games on this date, Tennessee has a record of 9-4-1.

The Vols first played on Sept. 25 in 1915, defeating Carson-Newman, 101-0, in Knoxville.

Tennessee last played on this date in 2010, the first year in the tenure of Derek Dooley as head coach. The Vols defeated UAB, 32-29 in double overtime, at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee has played Mississippi State twice on Sept. 25, splitting a pair of meetings with the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State defeated the Vols, 21-6, at home in 1948. Tennessee avenged its loss in 1954, winning 19-7 in Memphis.

The Vols have played Auburn four times on Sept. 25. The Tigers won in 1971, 1976 and 1982 and the two teams played to a 13-13 tie in 1965.
