HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Two 16-year-old boys were shot as they attempted a carjacking at gunpoint Friday morning in a Chicago suburb, authorities said.

A motorist, who had a concealed carry license, took out a gun and shot at the teens, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The incident occurred at a gasoline station at about 5:40 a.m. CDT in Hoffman Estates, WFLD reported. The teens fled in the vehicle, which was later recovered after being abandoned a short distance from the scene, the Daily Herald of Arlington Heights reported.

Authorities said one of the boys was shot in the left shoulder and back and was taken to an area hospital, where he is in serious condition, WGN-TV reported. The other teen was shot in the left leg and is in fair condition at a different hospital, according to the television station.

The teens were being questioned as persons of interest in the carjacking, Hoffman Estates Sgt. John Bending told the Sun-Times.

How to do you protect your self when someone is trying to carjack you? You don’t think about how old or what color they are, you just go into survival mode. I think this is was good news.

With the current lack of criminals being charged and let off to run the streets, I think more of this is coming. The citizens have had enough chaos!

good job. next time.. aim better...these slugs if society should never be able to walk or move again. aim for the spine
