Red Sox Minor Lines: A nice Triple-A debut for Josh Winckowski

And a couple of wins in the DSL.

This was not the result they were looking for, but it was a solid Triple-A debut for Winckowski, who was called up to Worcester along with Casas and Hernández to end his season. The righty actually took a perfect game into the fourth and a no-hitter into the sixth, but got into some trouble that third time through the order. Still, the lack of walks with solid strikeout totals makes this a positive outing overall. The offense, meanwhile, had nothing going, though seeing three walks for Casas is certainly a very good thing.

This was a nice day down in the Dominican, though not a whole lot to talk about. The pitching for the Red squad really highlighted the day, with both Mejias and Santos coming through with good showings. Santos in particular is an interesting arm, and he’s got a 3.86 ERA this year with 42 strikeouts over 46 2⁄3 innings. He’s still plenty raw, which is to be expected at 19 years old, but there have been some interesting flashes this year. At the plate, Liendo certainly carried the day. He has a .690 OPS on the year.
