Former Foreign Language Teacher at Cranston West, Ernest Cimorelli, Passes at 77

Cimorelli, Ernest age 77, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cranston, on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Ernest was the beloved only son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Catalozzi) Cimorelli. Ernie leaves his dear cousins, Paula Fish (Dean) and Janice Connors of Cranston, John C. Parisi (Cathy) of Coventry, and numerous paternal, second, and third cousins.

Ernest was a long-time resident of Cranston, R.I. He graduated from Cranston High School (East) and received his Bachelor’s Degree in foreign languages from Brown University, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He then completed his graduate work at Syracuse University in New York and obtained a Master’s Degree in foreign languages. In later years he attended the University of Rhode Island for post-graduate work and was awarded a degree in library science. Ernie also enjoyed spending summers completing coursework in Italian at Middlebury College in Vermont and at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

Ernie was a teacher of foreign languages at Cranston West High School for 17 years. He was fluent in many languages. Ernie was a highly intelligent person who especially enjoyed visiting libraries and spending time reading. Ernie loved 50s music, listening to music and talk shows on the radio, loved the New York Yankees and was always one to follow political dialogue on television.

Ernie was a private and gentle soul who neither craved attention or wealth. He was a quiet, kind-hearted man who was well loved by the people who took the time to get to know him, and he will be forever remembered and greatly missed.

At Ernie’s request, his funeral services will be private.
