BAY CITY, MI — Paul Williams, owner of Country Chef Family Restaurant and a certified executive chef with decades of experience, takes pride in the meals he serves.
“We’re a family-style restaurant,” Williams said. “Everything’s homemade.”
His restaurant, which opened in September at 3593 Center Ave. in Essexville, formerly, El Mexicano, is busy for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“We can’t keep seats, I mean, it’s just been absolutely crazy,” he said. “It’s like non-stop.”
Williams said customers love his hot turkey dinner served with mashed potatoes, a vegetable and gravy, and the hot roast beef sandwich served the same way.
“And then I’d have to say breakfast is one of our biggest sellers, too,” he said.
The star of the breakfast menu shares the restaurant’s name. “The Country Chef Breakfast Special” comes with three eggs, a piece of ham, two pieces of bacon, two sausage links and hash browns or American fries.
Williams, who has 50 years of experience in the restaurant business, has enjoyed the warm welcome Bay County has shown his restaurant since it opened its doors. He’s planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 30.
“I just love Essexville,” he said. “I mean, these people have been waiting for a restaurant like this for a long time.”
Country Chef Family Restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Find Country Chef Family Restaurant on Facebook to learn more.
