Delaware County Towns Make Top 50 List of Best Places to Raise a Family

Five Delaware County towns are among the 50 best places to raise a family in Pennsylvania in 2021, according to a new report published by Niche.com.

Niche.com determined the rankings based on the key factors that are meaningful for families. These include quality of local schools, safety, availability of affordable housing, and access to family amenities, among others.

All places that made the top 50 received an A+ or an A grade for their overall score.

Swarthmore ranked highest at seventh place. The town offers residents an urban/suburban mix atmosphere with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Swarthmore also ranked at No. 27 in the entire country.

“Swarthmore is a great little town,” states one of the reviews. “You can tell it is in the midst of undergoing its renaissance, becoming a destination in its own right.”

Next is Radnor Township at No. 24. The town boasts great schools and many superb restaurants.

Radnor Township offers residents an urban-suburban mix feel and most residents own their homes.

Nether Providence Township follows in No. 30, with Thornbury Township close behind in No. 32.

The list is rounded out by Upper Providence Township in No. 43.
