Argos School Board Holds Public Hearings

The Argos School Board members held a public hearing Monday night concerning the collective bargaining process with teachers.

Superintendent Ned Speicher said a two-year tentative master teacher agreement was negotiated and was anticipated to be ratified Thursday night. 

There were no public comments on the contract. 

The second public hearing was held concerning the 2022 budget, Bus Replacement Plan, and the Capital Projects Plan. 

According to the notice to taxpayers on the Indiana Gateway website, the Debt Service Fund is just $903,000, the School Pension Debt Fund is $23,000, the Education Fund is about $4.4 million and the Operations Fund is nearly $2.2 million. 

The school corporation anticipates replacing one school bus this year and one school bus during years 2022 to 2024.  Two buses would be replaced in 2025. 

The Capital Projects Plan lists several projects anticipated to cost over $10,000 which include building improvements. 

There were no public comments on the advertised 2022 budget. 

The school board members will hold the adoption hearing during their regular meeting on October 25.
