Klopp Talk: Liverpool Boss Praises “Goal Machine” Mohamed Salah

Since signing for Liverpool in the summer of 2017, Mohamed Salah exceeded nearly all expectations. His 130 goals in 209 appearances for Liverpool, plus all the individual and team honors, should put him near the very top of a very short list of best footballers on the plannet.

Yet, somehow, Liverpool’s #11 is underrated. Game in and game out, Mo just continues to produce goals and assists and a shockingly consistent rate, all while usually being the best, most dangerous attacking player on the pitch.

One person who certainly doesn’t underrate the Egyptian King is Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp. Indeed, the German manager was quick to compare him with another one of his former players, Robert Lewandowski.

“Mo Salah is absolutely up there with [Lewandowski] – there’s no doubt about that,” Kloppo said.

“Mo is a goal machine, definitely. His professionalism is absolutely second to none. He does absolutely everything to be always fit, to stay always on track – first in, last out, all these kind of things. So, that’s Mo.

“On top of that, apart from his technical skill set and all these kind of things, he’s desperate to score goals and that’s helpful as well. That’s exactly the same like it is with Lewi, and that’s good, very helpful.

“Whatever you do on the pitch, whatever you create, whatever you initiate, you need somebody who brings the ball over the line or in the back of the net – and Mo is absolutely there with the best I ever saw, he knows that. The numbers he has are insane.

“I’m obviously blessed to work with some good players during my career.”

The season is still young, but Mo’s 5 goals in 6 appearances points to another monster campaign ahead, one in which he’ll likely be fighting for yet another Golden Boot, if he can stay fit and firing.

We, as Liverpool fans, should make the conscious effort to better appreciate everything Mo brings to this side. Salah’s been so good for so long, that it’s easy to forget just how special of a footballer he is. And hopefully he can continue is rich vein of goalscoring form today against Brentford.
