MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's golf team will travel to Glencoe, Illinois, on Sept. 27-28 to compete in the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern at Lake Shore Country Club.

THE EVENT
MU finds itself in a 14-team field along with Kent State, UC Davis, Georgia Tech, Washington, Indiana, South Florida, Kansas, North Florida, Michigan State, Ohio State, Cal Poly and Northwestern. The Golden Eagles begin first round action on Monday at 9 a.m. on the first tee alongside Notre Dame and USF. Second round action will commence at roughly 1:30 p.m. on Monday after the conclusion of the first round. Tuesday's third round pairings will be announced Monday night and tee times will begin at 8 a.m. on the first hole and 8:15 a.m. for teams and individuals off No. 10.

Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn won the previous event in 2019 after shooting a 6-under 207 at Conway Farms. The then-junior shot a 6-under 65 with eight birdies and a bogey-free 5-under 66 through the first two rounds.

The Golden Eagles also won the Windon Memorial as a team back in 2018 behind a third-place finish from Oliver Farrell at 7-under par, and Tyler Leach's even-par performance. In 2007 at Lake Shore, MU All-American Mike Van Sickle shared medalist honors with a 7-under 206.

Past winners and runners-up of the tournament include Tiger Woods, Casey Martin, Luke Donald, Hunter Mahan and Scott Harington.

THE COURSE
Lake Shore features a par-71 course that is set to play 7,000 yards. The course is a classic parkland style with ravines and woodland areas set next to Lake Michigan. The course has previously hosted the Windon Memorial on two occasions, back in 2007 during Van Sickle's win, and in 2015.

THE LINEUP
Nos. 1-5: Hunter Eichhorn, Max LyonsNicolás Evangelio, Tyler Leach, Aidan Lafferty
INDIVIDUAL Scott Schlader

Max Lyons has led the Golden Eagles at each of his first two collegiate events, posting a 2-under-par 214 at Erin Hills in the Marquette Intercollegiate and the same score versus par (2-under 211) at Windsong Farm in the Gopher Invitational. Lyons tied for 13th at the Gopher Invitational and has been a steady presence at the top of the MU lineup with the two lowest team-scoring rounds of the year, including a 5-under 67 in the second round of the Marquette Intercollegiate.

Eichhorn remains at the top of Marquette's lineup and leads the Golden Eagles with four of six rounds at par-or-better. The Carney, Michigan native looks to defend his 2019 medalist honors at the Windon and has finished inside the top-20 each of the three times he has played the event.

Leach closed out action at the Gopher Invitational at even-par in his final two rounds and has competed twice in the Windon previously. He tied for 12th at even-par as MU won the team event in 2018, and tied for seventh with a 2-under 211 at the 2019 event.
