Hatters head to Nashville to take on No. 18 Lipscomb

Nashville, Tenn. -- The Stetson University men's soccer team gets set for its second ASUN Conference match of the year as the Hatters head to Lipscomb University to take on the No.18-ranked Bison. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EST.

Recap
Stetson comes off a 2-1 loss in their ASUN opener to Liberty University back on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Hatters fell behind 1-0 in the 13' minute, but after battling through a 38-minute lightning delay, the Hatters knotted the match at 1-1 on a penalty kick goal from Oliver Bryneus in the 62'. Stetson ultimately fell 2-1 after Liberty scored in the 74' and now sit with a 1-4-2 overall record on the year.

Scouting the Bison
Lipscomb opened its ASUN Conference season with a 2-1 win over Bellarmine University back on Sept. 18. Then on Sept. 21, the 18th-ranked Bison fell 3-1 at Butler University in a non-conference match to put their record at 5-1-2 overall and 1-0-0 in ASUN play.

Tyrese Spicer is tied for the Bison team lead in goals scored with Hayes Wood (4). Spicer leads Lipscomb in points (10) and has two assists while Bakary Bagayoko leads the Bison with four. Lipscomb is ranked in the top-10 nationally in several statistical categories including shots on goal per match (3rd), shots per match (2nd), total assists (4th), total goals (4th) and total points (4th).

All-Time Series
Stetson leads the all-time series 11-7 against Lipscomb, as the Hatters have taken two straight from the Bison and look to make it a three-match win streak on Saturday night. The Hatters took the last meeting between the ASUN rivals 2-1 back on Nov. 8, 2019.

Hatters Notes
Olover Bryneus continues to lead the Hatters in goals scored with four and now has nine points on the year. Nelson Pereira and Ajmeer Spengler each have three goals with Pereira's all coming in Stetson's 6-1 drubbing of Embry-Riddle. Alvaro Gabancho continues to hold down the back line for the Hatters as the sophomore from Spain leads the team in minutes played (662).

Looking Ahead
After Stetson's second ASUN match of the season, the Hatters travel to Statesboro, Ga. on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. to face off against Georgia Southern in a non-conference bout. Then on Oct. 2, the Hatters return home for another ASUN match, this time against Jacksonville. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
