SCHERERVILLE, Ind. - The IUPUI women's golf team will state inside state lines and face some familiar foes this week when the Jaguars participate in the Briar Ridge Invitational, hosted by UIC this weekend. The seven-team field includes opponents from around the region, including three Horizon League foes in Green Bay, Northern Kentucky and UIC.

Head coach Jamie Broce's team has been equal parts good, bad and ugly in the season's first two tournaments, but still has a pair of top-five finishes to show for its efforts. Fifth-year senior Amelie Svejda has been brilliant at the top of the lineup, winning the season opener and owning a team-best 72.67 stroke average. Senior Kara Blair, the daughter of UIC head coach Mat Blair, is No. 2 in the IUPUI lineup with a 75.33 average in the season's first two events.

The Jags have impressive depth as sophomores Shelby Busker and Madeleine Pape and true freshman Nerea Lancho round out the IUPUI lineup. In addition, sophomores Keisha Bennett, Annaliese Fox and Ally Stuckey will play this week's event as individuals.

As a team, IUPUI has defeated 87 percent of its opponents this year and enters the tournament with a 297.83 team scoring average.

QUOTABLE: "After yesterday, we were all a tad disappointed, but proud of our grit during the rainy weather. Today, we went out as a team with the goal to play our game as best we could and fell a few shots of getting the job done. We fully gave it our all," sophomore Madeleine Pape said following the final round at the Ball State Cardinal Classic.

FORMAT: The event will be 5-count-4 with 36 holes of continuous play on Monday (Sept. 20) and a final 18 on Tuesday (Sept. 21). Sunday's play will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and Monday's final round will start at 9:00 a.m..

THE COURSE: Briar Ridge is set to play 6,086 yards and par 72 this week. The course is known for rolling fairways and was designed by Larry Packard and opened its doors in 1980.

THE FIELD: IUPUI will be joined by Chicago State, Evansville, Green Bay Morehead State, Northern Kentucky and host UIC this week.
