MACON, Ga. -- Bibb County deputies confirm that the "suspicious package" threat has been cleared.
It was determined that the package contained electronic office equipment.
Deputies say, "we treat any suspicious package as a potential explosive to ensure the public's safety."
Deputies will be clearing the scene shortly.
UPDATE 8:55 p.m.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 6:47 p.m. by a passerby of a suspicious package on the sidewalk in the 3900 block of Northside Drive.
Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene and located a package on the shoulder of Northside Drive.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal Unit was called out to investigate the package.
Northside Drive is blocked off from the 3800 block to the 4100 block for public safety while deputies were investigating the package.
Information will be released as it becomes available.
The public is asked to avoid the area while deputies investigate the incident.
