An Arizona Republican official said on CNN Friday night more Republicans need to stand up against the big lie.

Bill Gates (no, not that one, the one who serves as vice chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors) joined CNN’s Erin Burnett to react to the end of the Cyber Ninjas audit. Joe Biden won Arizona — again — but the press conference Friday continued raising a number of questions about the results.

Gates said at that presser they continued to throw out the same “half truths, misinformation, and allegations that have already been debunked.”

He brought up the live-tweet fact-checking the county conducted earlier and said the witnesses were not put under oath.

“These folks are not under oath, and, you know, I hate to go there. But we know that the people who are involved, the Cyber Ninjas, they came into this with preconceived notions. They’ve already stated they believe that the election was stolen from Donald Trump back in November of 2020. And they’re going to continue forward with these type of allegations that are baseless,” Gates said.

He expressed some hope that “this could be the beginning of the end of the big lie.”

Gates went on to say Republican elected officials should “stand up” to say, “This needs to come to an end. Joe Biden won. It’s time to move on.”

One person who doesn’

t want to move on is Kelli Ward, the chair of the Arizona GOP.
