The skies over Warren County should be filled with vibrant hot air balloons once again for the 48th annual Adirondack Balloon Festival.
The gates opened at 3 p.m. on Friday and people have been gathering in the spacious grounds about the airport here where the festival takes place.
This year's theme has been designated as one where essential workers are being recognized for their work.
The festival won't be quite the same as in previous years, as the directors of the festival decided for safety reasons that no vendors of any kind will be on the grounds, be it food service or otherwise to help control crowd gathering.
So, while the festival may not have quite all that it's had in the past, it still was worth the 4 hour drive these folks made from Connecticut. Holly Paradise, who came from Connecticut to see the festival, said,
“Yeah it's definitely different it's not the same, we miss all the activities, for the kids, like they have the train rides and everything, face painting and all that, but you know it's still about the balloons and we're still here and excited."
The balloon festival continues through the weekend with balloons hoping to launch again early Saturday morning and then the moon glow event lighting up the evening sky Saturday night more balloons filling the sky again early Sunday morning.
