A small aircraft landed in a soybean field Friday afternoon after drifting from its approach to the Fairfield County Airport.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 1 p.m. A 1968 Beech 95-B55 single-engine plane, piloted by 68-year-old Daniel Roberts of Westerville, had crashed outside the Fairfield County Airport.
His wife, 62-year-old Katherine Roberts, was a passenger.
Troopers said the plane was making its approach for the runway when it drifted south, striking the airport fence and embankment then coming to rest in a soybean field behind a Meijer grocery store on Victor Road.
Both of the occupants were transported to the Grant Medical Center for treatment. Troopers did not give a condition for the couple.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is working with the Federal Aviation Administration officials in the investigation.
