With production of the 2022 Ford Maverick underway at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant, it was only a matter of time before customer deliveries begin. For some people, the wait is now over because first customer examples of the 2022 Ford Maverick are starting to arrive in dealers across the US.

Previously, Mavericks being sent to dealers were either demo vehicles or used for training purposes, but one of the first production models has arrived at a Ford dealership in Ventura, California. Shown in photos shared by the Maverick Truck Forum, the production Maverick is an XL model finished in Iconic Silver with a black interior and an EcoBoost engine. We also get a first look at the keyfob.

The truck had already sold and will soon be in the hands of its new owner. Thanks to its affordable starting price and impressive economy, Ford has secured over 100,000 reservations for the Maverick, so we will start seeing many more examples arriving in US dealers and hitting the road in the coming days and weeks.

The person who took the photos was impressed with the production model's "well put together and very sturdy" build quality while praising the quality of the seats, interior headroom, front and rear legroom, and front visibility.

Customers who ordered the hybrid version of the Maverick may need to wait longer, however. Earlier this month, production scheduling for the hybrid Maverick was delayed "until further notice," likely due to supply issues caused by the semiconductor chip shortage. This variant is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor producing a combined 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque.

That said, the new owner of the EcoBoost Maverick delivered in California won't be disappointed with the truck's economy. The EPA rates the Maverick EcoBoost 2.0L AWD at 22/29/25 mpg city/highway/combined, making it more efficient than the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
