Bay County Health Department to start administering COVID-19 booster shots

BAY COUNTY, Mich. - The Bay County Health Department says they starting to administer the COVID-19 Pfizer booster shot.

The health department says this clinic will happen on Saturday, September 25.
The vaccine will be given at the health department which is located at 1200 Washington Ave. in Bay City.
No appointments are needed people can walk in.
According to the CDC these booster shots are needed for people who are at least 6-months out from their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
These vaccines are recommended for:
- people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
- people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
- people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks
- people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.
According to Bay County Health Department, the people who will benefit from these vaccines will get additional protection.
A booster shot will help strengthen protection against severe disease in those populations who are at high-risk for exposure to COVID-19 or the complications from severe disease.
