Some Premier League clubs ‘have just SIX players jabbed with Covid-19 vaccine’ amid fears season becomes chaotic

UP to 70 Premier League players have NOT been double-jabbed, according to reports.

Top-flight clubs are believed to be struggling to get their players to take the vaccine and there are fears the season could be curtailed as a result.

According to the Daily Mail, between 30 and 35 per cent of Prem stars have been vaccinated.

This is significantly lower than the UK population, with around 90 per cent of over 16s accepting the jab.

It's thought at least two squads have no more than SIX players vaccinated, while others have fewer than half.

Wolves, Brentford and Leeds have reportedly enjoyed the most success, with between 89 and 100 per cent of their players getting the jab.

The Prem figures are a stark contrast to the EFL's, with around 70 per cent of lower-league stars getting protected against Covid.

But more Prem players are expected to get the jab in the coming weeks ahead of the winter months.

Reports also suggest there is less of an incentive to get the jab for those not competing in European competitions or travelling abroad.

Those sides who don't have European commitments - bar Wolves, Brentford and Leeds - are thought to be struggling the most.

And it's believed Prem players REFUSED to take part in a publicity campaign encouraging footballers to get vaccinated.

Transport secretary Grant Shapps has urged unvaccinated players to get the jab as soon as possible to protect others.

The news comes after the Premier League confirmed supporters do NOT need to be double-jabbed to attend matches this season.

These rules are subject to change, though, if there is a sharp rise in positive cases this winter.

And footballers could be banned from playing at the World Cup in Qatar next year if they refuse to get the vaccine.
