Harry Styles Offers ‘The Notebook’-Inspired Dating Advice During a Concert: Watch

Harry Styles turned into a relationship guru on stage during his concert Wednesday night (Sept. 22) when a concertgoer held up a sign that read, “Should I text him?”

The “Treat People With Kindness” pop star, who’s been back on the road for his rescheduled Love On Tour, paused his show in St. Paul, Minn., to advise the attendee on the best course of action while asking a very important (and on brand) question.

“Is he nice to you?” he first asked, addressing the fine line between wondering if she should text at all or text him again. “In my opinion, if you should, this isn’t even a question. If we’re wondering if we’re playing games. If we’re wondering, ‘Should I text him? Should I not text him? I can’t text him too soon.’ Now we’re thinking about double texting, and that’s a whole different risky business.”

And he ripped a page straight from The Notebook — as in the 2004 romantic drama starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling — for his final word. “My personal opinion is that if there’s any sort of games, trash, trash, trash, not for you,” he said in reference to the scene where Allie’s (McAdams) mother screams at her about Noah (Gosling) being “trash, trash, trash, not for you!”

And it sounds like the advice certainly left an impression on the audience at Styles’ concert, who reacted with roaring applause.
