On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at approximately 1:57 p.m., officers responded to a report of a 5-year-old boy shot at 1300 N. University Boulevard, Neighborhood Wal-Mart.
Upon arrival police officers discovered the victim was shot in the left foot.
Miracle Murray has been identified as the relative who possessed the firearm when it discharged.
She was located on the evening of September 21 when she sought treatment for a gunshot wound to her hand that occurred in the same incident.
Murray is charged with Reckless Endangerment on September 23. It will be up to Murray to pursue misdemeanor charges against the attackers.
Through the course of the investigation the detective determined there was a verbal altercation between the victim's relative and two known subjects that turned physical.
During the course of the fight the victim’s relative was accessing a handgun when it discharged.
The bullet struck the victim and caused injury to his left foot. The juvenile was taken from the scene by POV and transported to the hospital.
The injury to the juvenile’s foot was not life threatening.
The circumstances surrounding the events that led to the injury will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office to determine any applicable charges. The case remains under investigation.
