What's At Stake

Oregon: The Ducks are 29-point favorites over one of the worst Power 5 teams in the FBS as they open Pac-12 play. Oregon, 15-5 all-time at Autzen vs. Arizona, hasn't lost a Pac-12 home game since early in the 2018 season against Stanford, where the Ducks play at next week. This looks like a good opportunity for Oregon to sharpen some things up in all three phases of the game before hitting the road to face the Cardinal. Linebackers Mase Funa, Keith Brown and Adrian Jackson are all expected to be back and it seems likely Kayvon Thibodeaux will play, too. On offense, Oregon coach Mario Cristobal says QB Anthony Brown is healthy and good to play after missing the second half of last week's romp over Stony Brook. CJ Verdell needs 21 rushing yards to pass Terrance Whitehead (2002-05) for sixth on Oregon's all-time list and 80 yards to pass Jonathan Stewart (2005-07) for fifth. Running mate Travis Dye became the 18th player in program history to surpass 2,000 career rushing yards last week.

Arizona: The Wildcats have the nation's longest FBS losing streak at a school-record 15 games and the low point may have come last week when they lost 21-19 to Northern Arizona of the Big Sky Conference for the first time since 1932. Arizona upset Marcus Mariota and company 31-24 at Autzen in 2014, but that team was on its way to winning the Pac-12 South before getting crushed by the Ducks in the conference championship game. The Wildcats have played three QBs. Gunner Cruz threw for 336 yards in a season-opening loss to BYU and split time with Will Plummer in that game and the loss to San Diego State before not playing against Northern Arizona. Jordan McCloud saw his first action of the season against Northern Arizona and split time with Plummer. All three are listed as co-starters this week. Arizona is averaging 79 yards rushing per game and converting only 20% of third downs.
