There are serious discussions every year about the best player in the NBA. This week, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo revealed his selection as the best player in the league, and it is LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The two-time MVP had a tell-all interview for Greek COSMOTE TV. One of the questions was about the No. 1 player in the NBA. As SPORT24's Harris Stavrou reports, while Antetokounmpo mentioned many other players, the best for him is LeBron .

The Greek Freak is clearly staying humble and showing great respect for LeBron James, even though his resume now boasts a ton of accomplishments. He won a championship last year, two MVP awards, and a Finals MVP in the championship season. In addition to that, the Bucks superstar also has a Defensive Player of the Year plum, five All-Star nods, three All-NBA First Team, and two All-NBA Second Team selections–all that and he is only 26.

Both LeBron's Lakers and Antetokounmpo's Bucks have title aspirations. It would not be a surprise to see them battle it out in the NBA Finals next year. Of course, all the other players Giannis mentioned play on championship-worthy teams, so any of the meetings between these players would be great to see in May and June of 2022.

LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo are less than a month away from the start of the new NBA season, as the league returns to a normal calendar with a normal-length season for the Bucks, Lakers, and all other teams in the Association. The 2020 bubble season was interrupted and truncated. The 2021 COVID-19 adjusted season — meant to finish before the Tokyo Summer Olympics — was limited to 72 games instead of the normal 82. That season started on Dec. 22, two months later than a normal NBA season would. The coming campaign will have the usual October-to-June framework.
