MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — The Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority will partner with PC Renewal to hold an electronics e-cycle event from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday at Sam’s Club, University Town Centre. Monongalia County residents may properly recycle and dispose of electronics. E-cycling old or replaced electronics keeps hazardous materials out of the environment, provides space for non-recyclable items at the landfill, extends the life of the landfill, and keeps manufacturers from using raw materials.

Residents can review the list of accepted items at www.monongaliacountyswa.com. If someone is not sure if their items will be accepted they can review the “Do not accept” column or email www.moncountyswa@gmail.com with a photo of their item or use the Contact Us button on the website. Residents are asked to remove all packaging, including plastic, cardboard, instruction manuals, CDs and remove from boxes. They are also asked to remove any broken glass from printers and scanners and the glass plates from microwaves.

Upon arrival, people can expect volunteers and staff to greet them and guide them through the line. The SWA requests that people remain in their vehicles at all times. Volunteers and staff will unload the vehicle themselves and people are also asked to leave their pets at home for the safety of volunteers and staff.

Items that will not be accepted include televisions of any type, items that contain freon (refrigerators and air conditioners), and no cathode ray tube monitors. The CRT monitors are the older models with the large tube in the back of the monitor.
