Celebrating and supporting the local arts during Artober

In 2019, Artober was created by Tuscarawas Arts Partnership as an annual month-long celebration of the arts, culture and creative industry in Tuscarawas County. Artober highlights the many events and opportunities to actively participate in the local arts community throughout the month, especially since it coincides with National Arts and Humanities Month. 

“There are a range of opportunities for the community to participate in Artober,” says Wilma K. Mullet, Executive Director of TAP. There are plenty of events and happenings for the community to choose from whether they want to enjoy the festivities with family and friends, take a workshop or class, or buy local art from our various galleries and creatives. The point of Artober is to uplift our local arts, culture and creative community and encourage participation within our communities.”

The community can participate in a variety of events and happenings throughout Artober:

• Saturday, Oct. 2: 4th Annual Pizza Box Art Contest and Exhibit at ARTSNCT 

 in Newcomerstown.

• Saturday, Oct. 2: Arts & Farms at Angel Family Farms in Port Washington.

• Saturday, Oct. 2: Gotta Be BEETHOVEN with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic 

 at the Performing Arts Center — Kent State Tuscarawas in New Philadelphia.

• Tuesday, Oct. 5: Eat Your Art Out with the Daily Grind, Missions Cafe, Pointe 

•  Dining and Sugarfuse! in Dover and New Philadelphia.

• Thursday, Oct. 7: Waitress at the Performing Arts Center - Kent State Tuscarawas in New Philadelphia.

• Friday, Oct. 8 - 24: Blithe Spirit at the Little Theatre in Dover.

• Saturday, Oct. 9: Free Arts & Crafts (K-12) at ARTSNCT in Newcomerstown.

• Thursday, Oct. 14: Fall Orchestra Concert with Dover City Schools Orchestra  in Dover.

• Saturday, Oct. 16: Ribbon Cutting Event for Artagain Alley in New Philadelphia.

• Saturday, Oct. 16: Beginner’s Sewing Class at Pindrop Shop in Uhrichsville.

• Saturday, Oct. 16: Colored Pencil Workshop with David McGee at Alley Cats 

 Marketplace in New Philadelphia.

• Sunday, Oct. 17: Art on the Alley in New Philadelphia.

• Saturday, Oct. 23: 4th Annual Manuel Yingling Music Award Presentation at 

 ARTSNCT in Newcomerstown.
